2. Looking ahead to the new baseline
· Ramping up phonics – what’s likely?
· Ramping up numeracy – what’s likely?
· New emphasis on vocabulary – what changes will be needed? what needs to be taught?
3. Recent and relevant research
A cook’s tour of the most useful educational research findings of recent months.
4. Primary academies
Ofsted are having a push on academies. So what’s the score? We review how far academies have spread, what forms they take and what Ofsted is saying.
5. FREE RESOURCE: ‘Working at greater depth’ extension objectives for each year
A set of follow-on objectives for each year in English and mathematics, to generate evidence for working at greater depth.

Sue Hackman was until recently the Chief Adviser at the DfE and responsible for assessment, accountability, standards, core subjects, inspection and deprivation. She is very well-placed to comment on current developments and issues of relevance to Headteachers and other school leaders.
