This course is designed to update and refresh your mathematics subject knowledge for supporting pupils in the classroom during their mathematics lessons.
The day will be an opportunity to:
• Gain a greater conceptual understanding of some of the key ideas in learning mathematics, by exploring a range of different representations, the use of mathematical vocabulary and questioning.
• Explore ways to support children with some of the trickier areas of maths such as fractions and division
• Consider effective classroom strategies to enable children to access the curriculum and understand, retain, develop and apply maths concepts and to develop their resilience
• Build your confidence with maths

Lynne Greenwood is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Mathematics Education at the University of Brighton, where she teaches Mathematics Curriculum Studies on the BA and Post Graduate programmes. She has 15+ years’ Primary School experience in various roles, i.e. deputy head. Mathematics leader, One to One tutor, Foundation Stage coordinator and class teacher. She has taught across the whole primary phase. Rachel has worked as a Primary Mathematics consultant in various LAs providing support and guidance through bespoke school based staff meetings, LA based INSET and targeted in-school consultancy.
