ABOUT THE COURSE
Drama strategies can be used as pedagogical tools, which need not be confined to ‘drama’. They can be learned and used effectively by any teacher, across the curriculum.
Interactive and inclusive ‘drama’ strategies can be used selectively by teachers, to inspire and scaffold different types of thinking, inter-thinking and dialogic talk with whole classes. The techniques can be selected specifically, to support whole classes of children, at the various stages of the writing process.
THIS COURSE WILL
• Introduce participants practically, to a broad range of interactive teaching strategies that are suitable for any teacher to use with groups and whole classes
• Help participants understand how to select and set up different drama strategies in ways that support children’s thinking, talk and writing
• Enable participants to experience and evaluate KS1 and KS2 lessons that purposefully use drama techniques to support thinking, talk and writing
• Provide resources, including a Drama Strategies booklet and KS1 and KS2 published units of work plus free online access to other lessons
“Absolutely brilliant! Patrice’s course opened doors for colleagues which they would not have believed possible. In everything she does, she walks delegates through the materials, and discusses the impact this has on children’s learning. She uses drama conventions to create opportunities for pupils to secure their learning in new and deeper ways.”
